Protein smoothie

This is a simple smoothie recipe that I've been enjoying during this past summer. At first I wasn't adding the spinach, but Lell convinced me to give it a try. Yum!

Update: I ran out of spinach and didn't have any other mild green to add (using rapini seemed like a bad idea) so I tried substituting about a cup of cauliflower. Success! I'll try to be more adventurous with these smoothies in the future.

Protein smoothie

1 banana
2 big handfuls organic baby spinach
2 tbsp wheat germ
1 tbsp flax seeds
1/4 c bran cereal
1-2 c frozen berries (blue-, black-, and/or rasp-)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder*
almond milk (to desired consistency)

Combine all in blender. Best enjoyed while still really cold.

* I'm finishing up my whey protein isolate version, which is obviously not vegan. After that I may try a hemp protein powder.

Sounds delish - we do use hemp protein powder (when we remember to use it) - and its great; I forget to add spinach, but did earlier in summer - wonderful; how's the almond milk working out for you?) Does this drink sustain you until lunch?
