What not to cook - part 1

I'm posting a salad recipe from a vintage cookbook (circa 1958) for no particular reason other than it made me laugh. It sounds so revolting that I question whether it's even edible. Maybe someone would make it one time for a "special" occasion, and then never attempt again. Is it the kind of dish that Trudy would've proudly served to Peter to celebrate a pseudo-promotion? Or is it something Betty would plop down in front of Don when he was in the doghouse? Discuss.

Tropical lamb salad

2 sliced bananas
2 tbsp fresh, frozen, or canned lemon juice OR 1/2 c canned crushed pineapple
3/4 c sliced celery
2 c cubed, cooked lamb
1 1/2 tsp prepared mustard
1/4 c mayonnaise
1/4 c whole stuffed olives
1/4 c salted almonds (optional)
1/2 tsp salt
Boston lettuce
Water cress

In bowl, toss bananas with lemon juice. Add celery, lamb. Combine mustard and mayonnaise; pour over meat mixture. Add olives, nuts, salt; toss. Refrigerate 1/2 hr. Serve with lettuce and water cress.
